Kitesurf
Kitesurfing in Fuerteventura

Over the last years, kite-surfing has moved away from being an inaccessible and extreme sport to an activity that can be practised by virtually any kind of person. Instead of running on the sea we should say navigating and rather than speaking about jumping over the waves we should say flying over the waves.
Fuerteventura’s north shores are the perfect place for practising this apparently difficult sport. Nevertheless, it is a fast learning activity that can be learnt by any kind of person, regardless of their age and fitness level, within a couple of sessions. Yes, a couple of days learning will provide the novice practitioner with sufficient skills to experience the liberation feeling that playing with the wind over the surf gives you.
The waters’ blue turquoise, the white sandy beaches of the Corralejo Dunes, the generous East coast waves, the strong surf of the north shore and the little or no presence of tourist agglomeration have created in Fuerteventura a kind of European Hawaii.
As we previously said, it is not a complicated sport. Nevertheless, practitioners need guidance and assistance as well as getting used and familiarised with the board, the kite, safety procedures and basic navigation rules.
Handling the crossbow, feeling the wind force in your body, mastering the kite looking for the right angle, getting up the board and letting yourself flow while sensing the saltwater in your body and the sun in your face…there are no words for describing all the feelings associated to the practicing of such a sport.
