It was constructed after a popular petition of the people of La Matilla who paid for it. It has a simple nave with a pitched roof and a vestry attached to the temple. The most remarkable feature is the carpentry work of the facade. Inside the hermitage, the Main Retable is presided by a carving of Nuestra Señora del Socorro, flanked by Saint John the Baptist and Jesus Christ. In this retable there are some pictorial representations of the Virgen de la Peña -Fuerteventura's patron saint- and the Virgen de la Candelaria. Dinamatik Web Studio. Copyright 2006 |
