The “Santa Inés” (Saint Agnes) hermitage is located in El Valle de Santa Inés village in the municipality of Betancuria. The small (14 x 8 metres) single-nave hermitage, whose walls are made of whitewashed stone alternated with masonry, has a small vestry attached to one of its sides. Access to the hermitage is through either of the two Roman Arch shaped doorframes, one in the main façade and another one in the north side of the building. Inside, the hermitage has a coffered ceiling and two altars made of masonry and limestone. The following items form part of the hermitage: • The main retable, made in polychromatic wood, with golden estípites (a type of column developed in Spanish America in the early 18th century, distinguished by its tapering inverted pyramid shape). • A collection of XVIII c. drawings. • Images of “San Bartolomé”, “San Juan” and “Santa Inés”. • A XVIII c. confessional booth. • A pulpit with oil painting on wood depicting the Evangelists and the Fathers of The Church.
