The beaches in El Cotillo, those in the Las Dunas de Corralejo Natural Park –both up north-, the Caleta de Fuste (a.k.a. El Castillo) beaches in the centre of the island and the “Sotavento” beaches down south are, without any doubt, the island’s best locations for enjoying the practice of windsurf.
Every year, during the last week of July, the world’s best windsurfers gather to take part in the world’s windsurf championship, which usually takes place in the “Los Gorriones” beach, in “Sotavento” (Pájara). During that week there are plenty of recreational activities going on inside a marquee next to the “Sotavento” beaches in Pájara.
